ASHRAE Commercial Duct Calculations

Overview. ASHRAE's precision measurements and duct fitting database form the basis for accurate duct system calculations determined by Right-CommDuctTM. With this module, you can compute duct and fitting size based on air flow with appropriate velocity limits, and then the software tells you the required fan pressure and total air flow.

More Right-CommDuct Information
  • You can select equal friction, modified equal friction, static regain or even put in your own duct sizes.
  • Select your materials to be sheet metal, fiberglass, vinyl flex, metal flex in rectangular, round, or oval.
  • The additional special calculation mode, Existing System, lets you diagnose problem systems and calculate “What if” scenarious.
    • Specify the available fan pressure, draw an existing real world duct system, and then specify the actual duct sizes. Right-CommDuct then calculates the air flow that will actually come out of each register!
    • You can compare this to correct air flow, as calculated by Right-CommLoadTM, to identify the problem areas. Using this approach, you can see what it will take to fix a bad system. When the design air flows match the (modified) actual air flows, you have a correctly-sized system.

    • Preset which ASHRAE fitting you want to use in nearly all common situations, for each material type. So when you draw a trunk with reductions, or when a takeoff is required, Right-CommDuct knows which ASHRAE fitting you want to use, automatically.
